Information on the Engineering Faculty
National Diploma: Mechanical Engineering N1-N6
The program caters for students who are interested in the design and development of machinery, designing of work methods and understanding of kinetics and thermodynamics.
The qualification is made up of the following modules which are done over a period of 24 months.
Foundation Certificate (N1-N2):
Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing. Electives: Fitting and Machining Theory, Motor Bodywork Theory, Platers’ Theory, Welders’ Theory, Rigging, Fitting and Machining Theory.
National Certificate (N3):
Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing, Mechano-technology.
National Certificate (N4):
Mathematics, Engineering Science, Mechano-technics, Engineering Draughting.
National Certificate (N5 + N6): Mathematics, Mechano-technics, Power Machines, Strength of Materials and Structures. Electives: Machine Design and Drawing, Fluid Mechanics.
Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Technician, Millwright, Fitter and Turner, Welder, Boiler Maker, Draughtsman, Panel Beater.
Upon completion of every level, a certificate will be issued from the Department of Education. A Diploma will be issued by the Department of Education on completion of N6 as well as two (2) years on the job training/attachment in the relevant industry.
Civil Engineering
The program caters for students who are interested in the design and construction of buildings, bridges, road construction and other infrastructure in the building environment.
The qualification is made up of the following modules which are done over a period of 24 months.
Foundation Certificate(N1-N2):
Engineering Mathematics, Building Science, Building Drawing, Bricklaying Plastering Theory. Electives: Carpentry & Roofing Theory, Plumbing Theory, Plating & Structural Steel Drawing
National Certificate (N3):
Engineering Mathematics, Building Science, Building Drawing, Building & Civil Technology.
National Certificate (N4 + N5 + N6):
Engineering Mathematics, Building & Structural, Surveying, Building & Structural Construction Building Administration. Elective: Quantity Surveying
Quantity Surveyor, Engineering Surveyor, Drainage Inspector, Health & Safety Officer, Road Inspector, Structural Technician, Clerk of Works, Civil Engineering Consultant.
Upon completion of every level, a certificate will be issued from the Department of Education. A Diploma will be issued by the Department of Education on completion of N6 as well as two (2) years on the job training/attachment in the relevant industry.
Chemical Engineering
The program caters for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the manufacturing of chemicals through management of the physical, thermal and chemical changes at an industrial scale.
The qualification is made up of the following modules which are done over a period of 24 months.
Foundation Certificate (N1-N2):
Foundation Certificate(N1-N2), Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Plant Operation Theory,Waste Water Management.
National Certificate (N3):
Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Plant Operation Theory, Waste Water Treatment Practice. Elective: Water Treatment Practice.
National Certificate (N4):
Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Chemical Plant Operation, Chemistry. Elective: Production & Quality Control.
National Certificate (N5 + N6):
Engineering Mathematics, Chemical Plant Operation, Chemistry, Power Machines. Electives: Chemical Technology (N6), Production & Quality Control.
Biochemist, Laboratory Technician, Environmental Officer, Chemical Engineer, Process Controller, Water & Sanitation Technician.

Electrical Engineering
The program caters for students who wish to study the application of electronics, electricity and magnetism as well as the equipment for the generation and distribution of electricity. The field goes on to the manufacture and repair of electrical gadgets like computers, control systems and generators.
The qualification is made up of the following modules which are done over a period of 24 months.
Foundation Certificate (N1-N2):
Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science. Electives: Industrial Electronics, Electrical Trade Theory, Radio & Television Theory, Logic Systems, Instrument Trade Theory.
National Certificate (N3):
Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Electives: Electro technology, Industrial Electronics, Electrical Trade Theory.
National Certificate (N4):
Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Electro-technics, Industrial Electronics.
National Certificate (N5 + N6):
Engineering Mathematics, Electro-technics, Industrial Electronics, Power Machines. Electives: Engineering Physics, Fault Finding & Protective Devices Logic Systems, Industrial Instruments, Digital Electronics
Electrical Engineer, Instrument Technician, Electrician, Millwright, Electronics Technician, Industrial/Commercial Electrician.
